Users Think Newsletters Beget Spam
Marketing Vox recently linked to a study by monitoring service ReleMail.
The study reports that seven out of eight people believe they’ll get more spam if they subscribe to an email newsletter. A slightly smaller proportion – 83 percent – say they have avoided subscribing to a newsletter because they didn’t trust the publisher. 78 percent said they didn’t always believe companies’ official privacy statements.
While there isn’t an immediate fix for instilling consumer confidence, eBizBlog links to the Canadian Marketing Associations’ Guide to Email Marketing (pdf), a good resource for making your email marketing more compelling.
